Fethiye is a city and district in the province of Mugla. It is a commercial and agricultural city average extending from the edge of a protected bay with a large port. It takes the place of the ancient city of Telmessos, since the time of Alexander the Great.
Located in a small port on the Gulf of Fethiye this city suffered an earthquake in 1957. Most of the ruins were destroyed, but the immense Lycian sarcophagus in the middle of town and a number of tombs in the rocks in the mountains survived. Silently watching the Acropolis mountain in the city, you will see the ruins of the fort built by the king of Rhodes. Another part of this area is the Bay of Oludeniz – Blue Lagoon – a scenario outlined by the lush beautiful beaches. In the mountains of Fethiye, which is a gorge powerful creating Saklikent (Hidden City), cool in summer and one of the favorite places for a picnic with rustic restaurants serving fresh trout.
