Pamukkale

A magical and spectacular nature place, unique in the world, Pamukkale is a divine white castle frozen. The thermal water contains minerals that run along the coast of the plateau, created a fantastic formation of stalactites, cataracts and basins. Mineral deposits from a hot source that is rich in calcium bicarbonate solution. When it reaches the surface, calcium bicarbonate, some previously dissolved in water, calcium becomes deposited as a hard gray-white layer, creating a series of interesting formations.

The process continues with water flowing down the slope, causing over time terraces calcium deposits.

Water flowing over the edges of the strange stalactite formations created. Many sources hardened into a strange and mysterious “frozen waterfall”, keeping the current waves in limestones. The thermal waters have been used since Roman times for therapeutic purposes.

Today the waters are used in spas, is recommended for the treatment of heart disease, circulation problems, high blood pressure, nervous system problems, rheumatism and diseases of the skin and eyes. The thermal power station , the ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis are found on the plateau.
